5 Mistakes to Avoid in Mobile Marketing

5 Mistakes to Avoid in Mobile Marketing

5-Mistakes-to-Avoid-in-Mobile-Marketing

Did you know that more than 50% of the population spend more than 5 hours a day on their smartphones? Because of the importance of this marketing channel, it is important to avoid these mistakes in mobile marketing.

Keep in mind, mobile marketing is only one part of your overall marketing plan. Keep reading to learn what you need to know.

1. Random Efforts

All of your marketing should have a clear plan that takes your customers through your sales funnel to a sale. This is even more important on mobile devices because it is easy for people to get distracted.

Keep your plan clear and consistent, it will result in success over the long term.

2. Not Having a Strong Retention Plan

Acquiring customers is expensive and depending on your product or service it may take a long time to convert them to a sale. Because of this, your mobile marketing plan should also include a comprehensive retention plan. This will include continued contact and the ability to seek customer service or support if needed.

When customers are using their mobile phones for their purchases, they tend to also use it for other communications or interactions with your company.

3. Not Having a Clear Call to Action (CTA)

On a mobile device, you need to have a clear call to action on the first screen.

Customers do not want to scroll to find how to purchase your product or service. Your call to action will also have to be slightly different on a mobile device compared to an email call to action.

4. Target Customers on Their Preferred Channel

Each social media has its own feel, algorithms, and followers. It is important that your mobile marketing plan has components that fit with each social media channel and the customers that use it.

Spend some time identifying your ideal customer and how they purchase. Then trace those customers to their ideal social media channel. This will help you to target the right customer on the right channel to make the sale.

5. Mobile-Friendly Payment

Just as it is important to have a clear call to action, it is important to have an easy mobile-friendly payment option in your mobile marketing plan.

Consider using PayPal, GPay, Apple Pay, or an app like Venmo when you are looking at payment options for mobile marketing. This prevents the customer from having to find a credit card to complete their payment.

Mobile marketing is an important component of any start-up marketing plan. Avoid these mistakes and you can ensure you can harness the most from this powerful marketing avenue.
