If you've ever played around with AI-powered image generation software, it's easy to see why. Natural language-based image generation is democratizing the creative process in visual art. No artistic ability is required; you just tell the AI what you want, and it creates it instantly.   So, are AI-based design tools putting the real graphic designers out of business, or does AI in graphic design open up new creative possibilities? Read on to find out.   Related Post: [How to Use Minimalism in Your Modern Web Page Design Strategy](https://blog.envisionitsolutions.com/how-to-use-minimalism-in-your-modern-web-page-design-strategy) ## Enhancing Productivity Of course, when you think about graphic design and artificial intelligence, cutting-edge software like [OpenAI's DALL-E](https://journals.open.tudelft.nl/jhtr/article/view/7025) probably springs to mind. While tools like DALL-E will have a huge impact on the creative process, they're only the tip of the iceberg.   There are also a variety of other AI-powered tools that don't create entire images. Instead, they're automated tools that make designers' lives easier. For example, software like Photoshop now has Content-Aware Fill.   This is a tool that lets users instantly select and remove unwanted elements from an image. In the past, this process was manual, but AI makes the process almost instant. Arguably, this could grant artists more time to focus more on being creative. ## Unlimited Inspiration [![New call-to-action](https://hubspot-no-cache-na2-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/cta/default/345825/cd91cd5f-215e-4ee2-9caa-29f412111591.png)](https://hubspot-cta-redirect-na2-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/cta/redirect/345825/cd91cd5f-215e-4ee2-9caa-29f412111591)Often, the trickiest part of being a [visual artist](https://blog.envisionitsolutions.com/3-things-to-expect-from-a-web-design-agency) is finding inspiration. In the past, painters would travel for miles to find stunning landscapes to inspire their work. While some artists still do this, most prefer taking inspiration from Google images.   While Google can be an incredible source of reference images, you're limited to pictures that already exist. With AI-powered image generation, you can get the perfect reference material.   One of the biggest criticisms of DALL-E images is that they're easy to spot). If you're using DALL-E to generate reference images for your own work, this major downside isn't an issue. ## A New Skill Set The only change that's ever permeant in the state of change itself. While AI-powered art is unprecedented, there's a long history of technology disrupting creative industries.   Before it was possible to record and playback a musical performance, the only way to hear music was to have live musicians. When Thomas Edison introduced [the phonograph](https://blog.electrohome.com/history-of-the-phonograph/) in 1877, musicians were worried that this tech would be the beginning of the end for live performance.   Clearly, these fears didn't come true. The possibility of recording and distributing live music made it possible to be a global music superstar.   The advent of recording didn't kill live music, but it certainly changed its nature. The same will be true for AI-powered art. Artists must adapt to a new creative reality, but history suggests [graphic designers](https://blog.envisionitsolutions.com/the-9-big-benefits-of-branding-for-your-business-in-2020) will survive. ## Tasteful Use of AI in Graphic Design This article has demonstrated that while AI in graphic design could change the game, it probably won't remove humans from the equation. Designers who find new creative workflows using the latest tools will come out on top, and those who refuse to adapt will be left behind.   Are you looking for a graphic designer for your website who knows how to tastefully use AI tools to reach new creative heights?
